How to Handle a Dumb Boss

One time in your corporate career, there is always a moment when you ask yourself, “I wonder how in the world the company ever promoted my stupid boos into this job.” Due to a combination of not well thought of business decision and too much trust in people’s potemtial, an organization often end up with a stupid boss in charge.

Handling a stupid boss requires a lot of good people skill sets. Here are some helpful tips and ways in dealing with a stupid boss.

I. Use intelligence to combat unintelligence

Once your stupid boss fell that you are smarter than them, they will feel little bit threatened and will try to sabotage you. That is why it is important to prove to them that you are a lot smarter and that you are out of their league. This way, they will feel frightened to mess with you.

Don’t have second thoughts in using any opportunity to prove that you are way smarter than anyone, especially your boss. Use intricate reasoning and big words when talking to them, and act like it’s natural for you.

II. Explain yourself using complex logic

The big issue wuth a stupid boss is they often take dumb decisions and asks you to implement them. When this happens, say you’ll do it according to what they want and then later do it according to your will.

And when your boss asks you why you disobeyed them, explain yourself using logic and big words that are above them. Say for example: “I was backtracking my steps on the appending of account numbers on the ICM stream and realized a divergent approach with this process would emphasize the project’s collateral benefits for both our company and our partner site in terms of PCI and other security risks.” Then watch them stare at you blankly. They don’t want to look stupid even if they don’t have any idea on what you just said, they will not acknowledge this. Vanity is common to stupid people. Most of the time, they will just say, “Ok, next time, do things like I tell you to”. Then just repeat the same process next time.

III. Understand their feelings

Because a stupid boss can not follow complicated logic, often it is best to push their emotional buttons to impact their choices. Do not bother to attempt to convince them of arguments when you suggest to carry out a certain project.

Tell them something like this, instead: “I went to speak about this project to Tim (the boss of your boss) and he believes that it’s a great idea.” it’s essential to please your boss to Tim, that’s all you have to persuade them to.

IV. Use plain and simple logic, and perfect choice of words.

If you really feel the need to persuade a dumb boss to use logic, facts and arguments, then strip them off before using them. It reflects the malevolence and abilities of good people. Imagine speaking to a caveman who does not know the great phrases and sophisticated logic: “This… line; this… circle.”

Simplicity is when you try to convince a dumb boss. Try anything and you’re going to lose them. Then you will only hear about them: “I don’t find your arguments convincing enough” (translation: “I don’t have no indication of what you are talking about”).

Last but not least, keep in mind that no matter how good your people’s ability to cope with a dumb boss is, it’s always better to cope with a smart one instead. Thus, if it is often time to trick your boss with your higher brain power, perhaps it is time to find another job.😅 😅 😅

4 Ways of Dealing with Entitled People

“A sense of entitlement is a cancerous thought process that is void of gratitude and can be deadly in our relationships.” – Dr. Steve Maraboli.

Some people wear entitlement like they own the world — they’re harsh, demanding and resentful, especially when they don’t get things they way they wanted it to be. But sometimes, you would not notice it, it’s subtle. That you will end up feeling, you are being manipulated.

Being friends, colleagues and associates with entitled individuals is a challenge because a relationship is supposedly equal, but it’s not for them. They will always feel superior and above you and will always prioritizes his agenda over others. How can the folly be stopped? Try the following 4 tips:

Tip number 1: Use wish fulfillment to set clear limits

An entitled individual will hold all sorts of expectations — he expect you to be readily available to babysit anytime he will ask, a grown child expect to inherit enough that he need not to save a dime, or a customer expect to not line up in a fastfood chain or bank because of his profession.

One great way of making it clear that you can’t or won’t fulfill the expectation, without blaming or criticism is through wish fulfillment. It sounds like this:  “I wish I could babysit and help you out, but I have an appointment today. Next time give me a few days notice and I’ll see if I can help.” Or, “I wish I could work you in the schedule today, but everyone is booked solid. What about tomorrow?”

In short, say you want to fulfill his request and then politely make it clear that you can’t. Sometimes just recognition that you have heard and ostensibly agreed with the entitled person’s demand is sufficient to alleviate their fragile ego.

Tip number 2: Treat everyone equally

Don’t bend any rules and or make any exemptions for an entitled individual if you can’t do the same for everyone. Making exemptions will just feed into the mind of an entitled person that he is special and superior, above everyone else. Plus it has an effect to the rest of the group, making them feel resentful. Everyone will feel secure and safe if you will run a tight and egalitarian ship.

Tip number 3: Feel a bit sorry for them

Yes, individuals who are entitled can boil your blood. But there’s a raging feeling of insufficiency underneath everything. However they may look outside, it is always helpful to think their lives and relationships are pretty miserable.

No mater what and how, you can never change an entitled individual, but only themselves. You can try to help and protect, but always steer clear by setting limits, being egalitarian and feeling compassion.

How to Endure Negativity from Anyone

Negative behavior can be quite a downer. Once upon a time, I had a colleague with daily adverse energy. In our discussions she would never cease to complain about everything she could think about–job, family, friends, health. She also was highly cynical of others, often doubting and severely judging their intentions. To say the least, to talk to her was not an enjoyable experience.

I felt totally drained the first time we had a conference. Even if we were speaking for only 30 minutes, after our discussion I hardly had any power remaining. It felt like someone literally sucked my life away and it took me a few hours to wear off the impacts. The next few times we talked about the same thing. I soon found out that I had to develop an action plan to tackle this type of adverse energy. After all, in my life she wasn’t going to be the only adverse guy I met.

I created a number of important strategies to deal efficiently with adverse individuals. They worked wonderful things in my own lives and Marc and myself are using them to help hundreds of weekly coaching and course students. I hope that in them, too, you will discover value …

1. Set boundaries and apply them.

It is difficult to cope with individuals who are adverse and fail to concentrate on alternatives. You want individuals to join your pampered group 24/7 so you can feel more comfortable. And it may be because you do not wish to be regarded as insane or rude that you feel forced to listen to their complaints, but it is a fine line between listening and getting drawn into the adverse emotional drama.

By setting boundaries and distancing yourself where necessary, you can prevent this tragedy. Please think this: would you like to sit next to them all day inhaling the second-hand smoke, if a adverse individual were cigarettes smokers? No, you wouldn’t–you wouldn’t get away. So go ahead and take a breath when you have to.

Another excellent way to establish limitations is to ask a adverse individual how they are trying to resolve the issue that they complain of when distancing themselves in the short run. They will often either rest or redirect the discussion, at least momentarily, in a more harmonious direction.

2. Do not just respond – be mindful of the situation

A response is a warm, thoughtless emotional explosion in the minute that is generally driven by your ego (as human beings, when we are unconnected to our logical mind), we are most likely to respond. In short, you don’t react by throwing insults at anyone with a adverse attitude. Maintain your dignity and don’t fall to their levels. True power is courageous enough for your head to wander away from the senselessness.

3. Choose a positive topic

The adverse approaches of some people are driven by certain apparently harmless subjects. For instance, when we speak about his work, one of my colleagues becomes a highly toxic self-victimizer. Regardless of what I say, she is going to complain of everything about her work and when I attempt to intercept favorable remarks, she rolls with more negativity right over them. This obviously becomes quite a damping discussion.

If the individual you speak to is stuck in a subject which brings you down, you may be aware of their adverse feelings too profoundly rooted to tackle in an unanimous discussion. If you are in a comparable discussion. Your best bet is to bring a fresh subject to the mood. Simple things like funny memories, friendships, private stories of achievement and other sorts of things

4. Provide positive resolutions and avoid discussing negative issues.

Where and how your attention is focused determines your mental state. You generate and prolong negatives and stress when you zero in on the challenges you are facing. You generate a feeling of self-efficency that produces beneficial feelings and decreases stress by shifting your focus on actions that can enhance your conditions.

The same precise rule applies to adverse individuals–it only intensificates your pain to determine how stressful and hard they are by empowering them. Stop thinking about how troubled this individual is, and instead concentrate on how you will deal positively with their behaviour. This makes your driver’s seat more efficient and more efficient.

5. Keep an emotional separation from the views of others.

To keep stress at distance, maintaining a degree of emotional separation is essential. Truth be told, you’re never as good as everyone says when you win, and you’re never as terrible as they tell you when you lose.  The important thing is what you’ve learned, and what you’re doing with it.

I believe that the amount of love and vision people have for the brand determines a good working together. For instance, it will be harder if two people usually have a passion for the same thing. As an entrepreneur I speak to many women whose main concern is the lack of a partner’s work ethic. One works harder than the other (usually the person with a greater degree of passion for the vision of the brand) than the two do.

It is important to select a theme, topic and schedule for an event. I think what a holiday or a trend in the news is coming to help me choose a topic for my event. In February, for example, you can host an event that targets black women entrepreneurs or Single Women’s Valentine’s Day. March is World Women’s Day. What kind of event can you host?

Based on what my public wants, I choose discussion topics for my events. I have questions and suggestions from my guests to speak on general topics so that people go with full cups.

Return of investment (ROI) is a term that you often hear in connection with business and finance. The objective (of course) is to maximize the return on the money you spend. The implications of this concept go much deeper when you begin to consider time rather than money as your primary investment. Everything you do is a time investment. When you watch TV you are investing in entertainment. You have made a bad investment and received a poor return for your time when you watch a show that sucks.

Time is more valuable in many ways than money. You will always have the chance to make more money, but once you spend time, it’s gone forever. If you consider time as a commodity and all your actions as investments, it changes the way you make decisions every day.

I work on this website as one of my many best positive things. It contributes to a small (and steadily rising) stream of revenue and builds abilities that I can use throughout my entire life, such as writing, web design, and networking.

Each person will have different positive effects, the important thing is to find those who work for you. An open source or personal project could be a multifaceted positive for a software developer. It can be just as easy as playing basketball, a fun game that is great exercise too. Areas, where different positive actions intersect, are key to finding multiple positive factors.

2. Avoid Multiple Negatives

Multiple negatives, except the opposite, are identical with multiple positives. These activities undermine many areas of life. One of my favorite faults is to drink. That hurts me in three ways: the time spent is not productive; drinks are expensive, and it usually destroys the effect of staying late and hungry the next day. This is basically the worst possible scenario if I don’t have a good time.

You must never go out and have a good time, I’m not saying. We need socialization and excitement in order to be happy. My point is that the negative effect of our activities should never be reduced. I try to make that by keeping the amount I drink to a minimum and only go out when I know it’s nice. We are often caught in a bad investment pattern. Over time, the benefits are lost and most of what remains is negative, but we do this on an unusual basis. This can be prevented if our behavior is analyzed regularly. Does this investment still be good or is it time for a change?

3. Utilize the Power of Compunding

I’m sure everybody understands the compound interest power reading this. You earn interest when you invest money. Then you begin to earn interest on the money you earned. This continues to compound over many years and ultimately leads to a huge amount of money. Time is the same concept. You put yourself in a position if you invest time by working hard when you’re young.

Many people of my age do not understand this, in fact, until just recently, I did not, or at least I did not. The main reason is that we are caught up in childish thinking. As a child, all you have to do is entertain you. You do not have to worry about your time because Mama and Daddy are there and usually happy to take care of you while you are out of trouble. Many young adults are traveling through college right now. Following graduation, we should immediately take on the mentality of the adult (and the responsibility to invest our time). A lot of people don’t get it, and every year they waste trying to extend the college days is an opportunity that can never be replaced.

Many think their time isn’t valuable when they don’t work, so they discard activities that have low investment returns and don’t build for the future. The truth is until you do, no one else will consider your time worthwhile. If you want to acquire the wealth to give your ideal lifestyle the freedom to live, begin to think of every choice as an investment. There’s no meaningless thing.

One mental model that can help you make better decisions is imagining that your life is a corporation and you’re the only employee. If you were the CEO of John Doe Incorporated and were obliged to maximize profit on behalf of investors, what would you make yourself do? Positive response

We all have personal issues and events in our lives that may make or break you. It is your response to that event and not the event itself that determines the outcome of your experience.

You can’t change the events that already happened or will happen. There are things you can’t control. You can’t stop the rate of technological change happening in the world. The internet, smartphones, Uber, Amazon, banks, Bitcoin and social media platforms like facebook, twitter, Pinterest, and Instagram are some of the changes we witnessed and have happened. Global warming, floods, droughts, earthquakes, massive layoffs, mass shootings, terrorist attacks, cyber attacks, and the rise of nationalism and populist leaders are all events that represent change.

There’s nothing much we can do about these events. But you can change your response to them and ensure that the end result and the outcome are as positive as possible. Let’s say you lose your job. You can either blame yourself for not being good enough while lying in your couch mindlessly watching tv or choose to use your free time in developing new skills and expertise. Things happened for a reason, there is a gift in it. You will always have control over how you choose to respond to things and events.

It is scary when we you are faced with big changes and you need to a big leap into the unknown. But entering into unknown territory doesn’t mean that it’s bad. It could be the best thing that’s ever happened to you. And if you approach it as such, you greatly increase the likelihood that it will be the best thing that’s ever happened to you. Allow yourself to feel the fear and don’t let it stop you. Take one small step after another into the unknown and you will be surprised at how quickly the path forward will become clear to you, and entirely achievable.

Dumaguete is the capital and largest city in the Philippines province of Negros Oriental. It is named as one of the best places in the world to retire in, as per Forbes, Internation living, Overseers Index and many more. Dumaguete is one of the most peaceful City in the Philippines. It is also named “the city of gentle people”. The Philippine Retirement Authority scored 87.48 percent to Dumaguete which make it the number one Retirement City in the Philippines.

As a travel blogger, I did not miss the chance to witness how beautiful Dumaguete City is. That’s why I traveled to Dumaguete riding my motorcycle last January of 2017.

It was a very awesome experience going to Dumaguete from the province of Cebu. I traveled 2 hours going to Liloan Port, Santander, Cebu. I departed around 10pm and we arrived at our destination past midnight. It was my 1st time so I was a bit shocked when I heard that it will only cost you 300 pesos bringing your motorcycle in Dumaguete and take note that is back and fort already. The people from Cebu port Authorities were also very approachable and kind. They will help you with your questions and will give you directions if it is your first time going to Negros or Dumaguete. Maayo Shipping Line was also very accommodating to their passengers and people who have vehicles with them. I definitely recommend them and would love to go back there if I will be given a chance.

It was already January of 2017 but the cold breeze and the presence of Christmas from 2016 was still covering the whole province of Negros and Dumaguete City. I witnessed how beautiful the City was during the night. It was totally different from all the other provinces in the Philippines. The lights and traffic signs are all over the province. You will never experience or feel any danger in traveling to Dumaguete.

It took us another 2 hours from the port of San Jose, Negros Oriental going to Dumaguete City because we enjoyed the view and we took a lot of pictures. It was around 1am the beautiful City of Sibulan was bright like a star in the night. Witness yourself how beautiful and safe Negros Oriental at Night.

It was around 2am when we arrive at Dumaguete City. We love the cold ocean breeze. There were vendors at the boulevard and people are safely and freely walking around the City. You will witness how safe and happy the people of Dumaguete living a simple but prosperous life.

One of the best parts of this travel was the food. Street food in the boulevard is awesome. They have the best ever streetfoods in the whole Philippines. And there are a lot, tempura, halo-halo, baked-rice, quail eggs, and the best ever Sans Rival and Sylvanas. The food is delicious and cheap. 

My overall experience in Dumaguete and the Province of Negros Oriental was amazing. This was the only place I went were I never experience and feel danger walking or driving my bike. I will defitely go back here on 2019 since I’ve missed a lot of place like The 4 watch towers, marine sanctuary, and the very beautiful apo island.

I’ll just share some of the photos here. I hope you guys enjoyed my story as much as I enjoyed Dumaguete City.

3. Negotiate – Ask the owner for the lowest price they can offer for the products that you have selected. If you think the discount will not be enough for your effort then you need to be straightforward. Inform the owner that you would like to resell their products. You will help them increase their sales and they will help you get your commission. Once you have agreed with the pricing then you already have a business.
